Keep Irving Beautiful Visits Heritage Senior Center - Staff Promotes Earth Month, Recycling

In honor of April as “Earth Month,” Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) staff paid a visit to the Heritage Senior Center on Thursday, April 5, to meet with the members and discuss ways we can all pitch in and help our environment. They had an information table where they engaged in conversation with seniors who had come to the center for a variety of activities such as attending an exercise class, eating breakfast, or playing bingo. KIB staff brought several items to promote responsible choices, including reusable water containers and shopping bags. In addition, seniors could choose from a selection of books that had been retired from the library and donated to KIB by the Friends of the Irving Public Library.

“We appreciate the Heritage Senior Center for inviting us,” said KIB board member Chuck Kirk. “This center is a great facility and resource for our seniors, and today was an excellent opportunity for KIB to get its message out. Those who came to our table really enjoyed learning about ways they can help keep our city clean and environmentally friendly. The books are always a hit, and it shows recycling in action – instead of being thrown away and sent to the landfill, they are recycled and used again.”
