Keep Irving Beautiful received the Sustained Excellence Award in the population category 100,001 – 250,000 at Keep America Beautiful’s recent National Awards Ceremony. The award was presented during Keep America Beautiful’s National Conference in Baltimore, Maryland.

Keep Irving Beautiful was one of more than 80 individuals or organizations recognized at Keep America Beautiful’s National Awards for its commitment and passion to transform public spaces into beautiful places.

“These imaginative, inspirational and transformative community leaders help bring to life creative, resourceful and meaningful programs in their communities,” said Keep America Beautiful President and CEO Helen Lowman. “It’s my privilege to recognize Keep Irving Beautiful for such valuable, mission-based work that helps its community be more socially connected, environmentally healthy and economically sound.”

Keep Irving Beautiful was recognized for its work in the focus areas of:

  • Ending Litter — Hosting events, such as the Great American Cleanup and the annual Trash Bash; maintaining an active Adopt-a-Spot program with more than 70 locations throughout the city; promoting litter-free public spaces; and conducting an annual Litter Index survey.
  • Beautifying Communities — Volunteer paint projects at parks and recreation centers, tree plantings at the Campion Trails and the city’s tree farm.
  • Improving Recycling — Green Events Program where recycling receptacles are stationed throughout community festivals and special events; participating in America Recycles Day; educating about recycling through an environmental mascot skit.

“Keep Irving Beautiful has been the Keep America Beautiful local affiliate for 27 years,” said KIB Board President Jim Scrivner. “It is an honor to be recognized for the work the organization does in the community, which is a reflection of the commitment of the excellent volunteers and partners that we have in Irving.”

The Keep America Beautiful National Conference—its premier educational and networking event—brought together nearly 350 leaders from Keep America Beautiful’s national network of affiliates, business leaders, policymakers and other experts who shared innovative ideas and proven strategies to help end littering, improve recycling, and beautify America’s communities.

The 2019 Keep America Beautiful National Conference is made possible through the support of some of America’s leading companies.
