Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) reaches out to Irving’s large and diverse corporate community, including Acosta Sales and Marketing, who joined them for a beautification project on May 5.  It was a beautiful Friday morning when 67 volunteers gathered at Senter Park for their day of service as part of the company’s “Acosta Cares” program.  After signing in and being welcomed by KIB staff, the group separated into teams to tackle a variety of projects, which included painting the metal safety fencing by Delaware Creek along with two pavilions and all the barbecue grills in the park, as well as staining the wooden door to the dumpster enclosure.  In total, the group gave 268 hours of service in this project.  The City of Irving Parks Department provided technical guidance and supplies. KIB had previously worked with Acosta in two park cleanups at Trinity View Park, and at last year’s project, 88 volunteers applied a fresh coat of paint to the Lively Pointe Pool facility and fences.

KIB Board member Karen Harmon said, “One of the many great things about Irving is that we have such a strong business community, and many of the companies that office here place an emphasis on corporate citizenship and giving back.  Acosta is a great example of that, not only with their work with KIB, but also in activities like canned food drives and supporting the “Blue Christmas” program during the holidays.  The “Acosta Cares” program gives employees the opportunity to be an active part of the community, and they seem to enjoy that as much as we enjoy working with them.”
