On Friday, October 28, the Irving Family YMCA was transformed into a Fall Festival, with attendees of all ages dressed in costumes and enjoying the variety of activities that were offered. Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) once again partnered with the YMCA to help make this a “Green Event.”   KIB staff was joined by four University of Texas at Dallas students who assisted at the KIB table, where participants took turns spinning the wheel and answering questions about recycling and conserving energy and natural resources.   Prizes were recycled books, generously donated by the Friends of the Irving Public Library, as they have been doing for several years.  KIB also promoted decreasing plastic waste in the environment by giving out reusable drink pouches.  KIB provided recycling stations throughout the building, along with signs encouraging people to participate.  The students helped monitor these recycling stations and kept the area litter-free.

“This is always a fun-filled event that is great for the whole family,” said KIB board member Rachel Moon.  “Keep Irving Beautiful is honored to be invited to partner with the Irving Family YMCA in their annual Fall Festival.  We have been participating in this event for several years, and it’s a fun experience for everyone who attends.  Our student volunteers did an outstanding job, and I think they appreciated the opportunity to help out in the community.”
