At the Irving ISD school board meeting Monday night, Dec. 16, the Board of Trustees appointed Randy Necessary to the open District 6 school board seat.

Necessary is a 60-year resident of Irving and class of 1968 graduate from Irving High School. His wife Patti and two daughters also graduated from Irving ISD schools.

Randy has served on the campus improvement committee at Irving High School as well as being a member of the athletic committee and band boosters. He has also served as vice chairman of the Board of Adjustments and Appeals for the City of Irving.

The District 6 seat became vacant after a board member resigned in August. Necessary is serving the remainder of this year, which is the first of a three-year term. The District 6 seat will be up for election on the May 2014 ballot.
