Annual Awards Luncheon chairmen, Shanon Schwimmer and Sherri Cook

Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas is preparing for its annual fundraising event in Dallas on March 26th at the Hilton Anatole. The Annual Awards Luncheon is always a celebration of Planned Parenthood’s mission but this year the luncheon marks a special milestone in the organization's history, celebrating 80 years of providing trusted healthcare and health education services to North Texas women, men, teens and families.

Event chairs, Sherri Cook and Shanon Schwimmer, and the 2015 Luncheon Committee are promising a particularly inspiring afternoon featuring prominent writer Dahlia Lithwick. Lithwick is a senior editor at Slate, writing the "Supreme Court Dispatches" and "Jurisprudence" columns. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, Harper's, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, and Commentary. In 2013, Lithwick won a National Magazine Award for her columns on the Affordable Care Act, and she has received two Online Journalism Awards for her legal commentary. Lithwick has appeared on CNN, ABC, The Colbert Report, and The Rachel Maddow Show. She is currently working on a book about the four women justices of the United States Supreme Court.

“ The Dallas community has counted on Planned Parenthood health centers for trusted, expert healthcare for eighty years. With generous support from Dallas donors and supporters, we’re proud to continue this tradition for Dallas County women in the years ahead,” said Ken Lambrecht President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas.
