On April 6, Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) participated in an Environmental Fair sponsored by Googly Eyes and Craft Supplies. The event was held in the shopping center at Story Road and Highway 183, where Googly Eyes is located, and featured electronics recycling and personal paper shredding. KIB was one of several vendors in attendance, and distributed flower seed packets, pens and brochures about their programs.  They also brought the popular prize wheel and awarded donated books for answering questions about recycling. KIB had three Service Learning Student volunteers who helped at the table and also kept the grounds litter-free during the event. This was an official KIB “Green Event,” with KIB providing recycling stations for the attendees to use.

KIB’s Julie Schmitt commented on the value of events like this one. “Meg Mueller, the owner of Googly Eyes and Craft Supplies, has been a great supporter and friend of not only KIB, but the entire Irving community, since she first opened the store,” she said. “She stresses environmental stewardship and responsibility in everything she does, and that was very evident today. It’s always a pleasure to work with someone like Meg who really cares about giving back to the community.”
