Nokia’s “Helping Hands” team partnered with Keep Irving Beautiful and the City of Irving Parks Department for a beautification project at T.W. Richardson Grove Park on Thursday, July 25. The nine employee volunteers gave a combined 27 hours by painting safety handrails on the bridge that links T.W. Richardson Grove to Keenan’s Crossing, the adjoining park on the Campion Trail System. When they were finished, the bridge had a shiny coat of metallic silver paint, which many of the park visitors commented on, and even thanked the volunteers for their service.
Nokia’s Irving office has partnered with KIB before as part of their Helping Hands Program, which gives employees time off work to participate in service projects in their community. Previously they painted a fence at Centennial Park and conducted a cleanup of the wooded creek area at North Lake College’s South Campus. KIB Board President Scott Wilson was at the site to assist Nokia volunteers, and had this to say about the day. “Nokia is one of a growing number of KIB’s corporate partners who are making a difference in the community. We look forward to continuing to work with them on future projects. The work they did today will be appreciated by the many people who come to Irving’s beautiful Campion Trails to enjoy all the outdoor activities the parks have to offer.”
KIB would like to thank John Page and Joyce Cousins of the Parks Recreation Department for providing logistic help and direction in making this another successful project.
