Texas ProStart students from three area high schools are working to create healthy children’s meal options for consideration of inclusion at local chain restaurants.  

Students have spent the last several weeks working on research and development for Kids Fit Menus to be highlighted at the local restaurants. Each school will present the options and the restaurateurs will select their favorites to add to a limited-time only menu. There is opportunity for the menu items to become permanent, as well as go chain-wide. Participating restaurants are Genghis Grill Restaurants, The Original Pancake House and Humperdinks.

The students will present their creations to executives from the participating restaurants: The Colony High School students will present to the Executive Chef of Genghis Grill Restaurants; Plano East High students will present to Genghis Grill Restaurants and The Original Pancake House; Irving High School students will present to Humperdinks.

Kids Fit Menu is part of Medical City Children’s Hospital’s kids teaching kids program (www.kids-teaching-kids.com), of which Greater Dallas Restaurant Association is a partner.
