Several long time Irvingites meet and eat six days a week at our local Whataburger at 2515 W. Airport Freeway here in Irving, TX. Included in our group are retired business owners, pastors, teachers, boy scout leaders, policemen, bankers, truck drivers, school bus drivers, floral designers and administrative personnel among many others. We have several veterans who have served our country in WWII, Korea and Vietnam who still drive and come each day even though they are in their 90’s. Among us are people who help others every day in several ways such as delivering Meals on Wheels to those in need, visiting the sick in the hospitals and helping out whenever there is a need. For example when the hurricane devastated several towns and cities in TX our group got together in partnership with Flower Mound Youth Sports Association and donated cleaning supplies to the people of Kountze, TX, a small town where the need was great after flooding. Our seniors donated a pickup load of cleaning supplies to help.
Our special group of friends have lived in Irving for many years, some since birth, as this is their home where they raised their families, supported local Irving businesses and still plan on living in Irving for the rest of their lives. We visit, check on each other, support each other and care for each other. We celebrate birthdays each month at our Whataburger. This week we celebrated eight February birthdays with ages ranging from 95 to 63. What a special occasion it was to celebrate these Irvingites and give them the attention they deserve for all they do for our city, our citizens, our churches, and our businesses!
We want to thank the management of our Whataburger especially the Manager, Yadria “Dee” Benitez, for supporting and celebrating with us.
